I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you, as Seniors of 1970, upon completion
of your work in the Danville Schools.
Success without a complete education is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. You
are encouraged to continue your education and prepare yourself for the complex society in
which you must live.
You have a more wonderful gift than any human could bestow upon you. This gift being
your own individual mind, fearfully and wonderfully made.
Train and discipline your mind, then fill it with pure and noble thoughts, and the outcome
will be a life worthwhile.

After four years at Danville, you, the Seniors, are now prepared to take your place as
responsible citizens. The Senior Class represents the culmination of all the well spent effort
in every phase of school life, the finished product. The many joys experienced, the many
lessons learned will not be forgotten but will go on living as an indestructible part of each
person. The foundation has been laid, now it is up to you, future citizens and leaders to
build onward and upward.
With graduation, you, Class of 1970, will suddenly turn from a well-knit group, working
together, into individuals, each going his separate way. Some of you will meet only at class
reunions. Some of you may never meet again. Together you have done much. You have
put together this yearbook, made your mark on the gridiron and basketball court. You have
made your school better for having been here. Apart, may each of you be as successful as
your class has been as a whole. In college, in marriage, on the job, in life, may your job
again be “well done.”
Sincerely,
7

NANCY SMITH
To the Community, the deaths of Nancy
Smith and Shawna Cornell were a severe
shock; to their families, a tragic loss, and to
Danville High School the loss of two great
friends. There were many pleasant recollec-
tions for all who knew them. Their pleasant
personalities and friendly spirits will never be
forgotten. So, we the Senior Class of 1970,
do dedicate this page in loving memory,
to Nancy Smith and Shawna Cornell, who
the Lord, in his great wisdom, called from our
group.
