The Stonewall Jackson Student Cooperative Association worked toward
making Stonewall Jackson a better school by concentrating on five major
project capacities: 1) Citizenship, 2) Community, 3) Self-Improvement,
4) Service, and 5) World Understanding.
Stress was placed on SCA unification--getting clubs to work together
as a unit to solve their common problems.
The SCA drive for the Dollars for Scholars surpassed any previous
year and was the largest amount collected by any school in the county.
Funds were raised for the ultimate goal of having a completed athletic
field. This year a multi-lane gravel track was added and funds were
raised toward purchasing a $400 lawn mower for the care of the football
field.

I believe in the future of farming, with a faith
born not of words but of deeds--achievements won
by the present and past generations of farmers; in
the promise of better days through better ways,
even as the better things we now enjoy have come
up to us from the struggles of former years.
I believe that to live and work on a good farm
is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the
joys and discomforts of farm life and hold an inborn
fondnessforthoseassociations which, even in hours
of discouragement, I cannot deny.
I believe in leadership from ourselves and re-
spect from others. I believe in my own ability to
work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowl-

organized farmers to serve our own and the public
interest in marketing the product of our toil. I
believe we can safeguard those rights against prac-
tices and policies that are unfair.
I believe in less dependence on begging and
more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and
enough honest wealth to help make it so--for others
as well as myself; in less need for charity and more
of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing
square with those whose happiness depends upon
me.
I believe that rural America can and will hold
true to the best traditions in our national life and
that I can exert an influence in my home and com-
munity which will stand solid for my part in that
inspiring task.

Golf
A golf team was established at
Stonewall during the 64-65 session
of school. During that season the
team had a 6-0 record in District 10,
and a 6-2 record overall. This year
they had a 6-0 record in the District
and a 9-1 record overall. Members
of this team are Kent Rea, Bruce
Murray, Robert Estep, Ricky Theis,
Joe Hoover, and Joe Coffman.

Gymnastics
The gymnastics team of Stonewall had a
very successful season this year. Six of the
nine member team participated in the State
Gymnastics Meet held in Roanoke. At this
meet Debbi Winoker won the Intermediate
Division of Tumbling. Debbi also placed fifth
in Free-Exercise, and Carolyn Lutz placed
seventh in Tumbling. All the girls should be
commended for all their hard work and fine
showings during their most successful sea-
son.

Junior Varsity
The basketball season for 1965-'66 began in October,
with intramurals preceding tryouts. For two weeks many
girls played basketball for pleasure, but for those who de-
sired to make the teams, it was hard work. After intra-
murals it was "hop to it and let's go." Those returning from
previous years of play did all they could to help the new-
comers. Excitement rose in each player as the season open-
ed with Strasburg. Although it was a loss, all were deter-
mined that the following games would be the ones. The
Generalettes had a losing streak this year, but they are
ready for the future when each girl will contribute to the
name of the "Mighty Generalettes."
This is Mrs. Owens' third year
as basketball coach and Phy. Ed.
teacher at Stone wall. She has intro-
duced modern dancing to her Phy
Ed. classes and has been the leader
and organizer of soccer, volleyball,
and gymnastics. She has shown us
the importance of sportsmanship and
school spirit as well as the import-
ance of being physically fit and well
groomed.

During the past five years we, the class of '66, have reached one of
our goals—graduation from high school. In the future we are going to be
reaching for higher goals. Some of us will be awaiting graduation from
college. Others will be going to a business school and becoming success-
ful business men, and still others will be getting a job and getting married.
Whatever our goals maybe in the future, we can look back on our activities
and accomplishments at Stonewall.
We, the Generals, are very proud of our school and hope that the ones
who follow us will be as proud of it as we are.
Tony Barrick
Fellow SCA Members:
The opportunity to have served you as SCA President this year has
been a very gratifying and memorable experience. I deeply appreciate the
honor and the responsibility that you have entrusted to me and hope that I
have used them wisely.
The SCA is a challenge to every student at Stonewall Jackson High
School. It is the only organization of which every student is a member.
Therefore each member should take pride in the undertakings and accom-
plishments of this organization. The SCA will only be as good as you make
it. This in itself is your incentive to go ever forward.
