BOARD OF EDUCATION
From left to right: Lloyd Henryson, Alvina Naig, Emma Wierson,
Supt. Harlan Higgins, Raymond Kammin, Arneth Gertsen, and
Willard Anderson
To each member of the Glass of '61, may I extend my sincere
congratulations and best wishes for a successful life.
Your parents, your teachers and administrators, The Board
of Education--the whole community--have made it possible for
you to get a high school education. During the past four
years, you have had a chance to develop a "philosophy of
life”, a philosophy that will enable you to bear up under
discouragement and to keep going when the going gets tough.
Plan your life--follow your plan--SUCCESS cannot be far away!
At times every teacher asks himself what there is to
teaching that is so satisfying. Teaching never was easy
work, teaching has always had more than its share of
problems. Yet offsetting these are some satisfactions—
and these make teaching worthwhile; and give teaching its
greatest values.
What are these satisfactions? It seems to me the greatest
and deepest satisfactions are—just pupils. Somewhere in
each of you are the sparks of intellectual distinction; in
some even of genius. But the sparks are dormant and haven’t
been made to come to light.
In this senior class of 1961 there are 24 boys and 20
girls destined for high places if only the spark can be
discovered.
It is our sincere hope that you who are leaving us,
will spark your hopes and dreams, we hope we have helped
plant in you the desire to become worthwhile citizens and
leaders we know you are capable of being
