PROPHECY
While on my trip this summer I visited New York City. I phoned a cab from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel,
where I was staying, to take us to the Metropolitan Opera, where the great baritone Gary Felker was making
an appearance.
While waiting on the cab we watched television. We noticed something familiar about the daring aerial
acrobat. When they announced Dortha Landis as the acrobat we were certainly surprised.
Then we heard a squeaking of brakes outside the Hotel. We hurried out and saw that our taxi had just
hit a car. We soon learned that the driver was Phyllis (Rodgers) Dyer and that she was running her own taxi
service, so she could send her triplet daughters through college.
As we traveled along the highway we stopped for gas at a little filling station and restaurant named the
"Slim and Spud". We were certainly happy to see our old friends Ellen (Sands) McLeland and Jerry who
own the restaurant.
They had just heard that Jerry Ruch now owns a tomato factory in Turkey and has five wives.
As we drove into Chicago I got a terrible tooth ache. I went to J. Campbell's Dentist Clinic, never
dreaming that it was my old friend John Campbell from B. H. S. Johnny hypnotises his patients as he works
on their teeth so they feel no pain.
That night we went to see Buis's Mighty Five play the Harlem Globe Trotters. We had heard Jim's team
was good but we didn't think they could beat the Globe Trotters which they did 48 to 52. We also found
that Jim had married Marie Caudle and they have a bouncing baby boy which they will no doubt raise to be
a basketball player.
As we traveled on we went through South Dakota. We were passing through a small town when we ran
out of gas in front of an Old Maid's Home.
When we went in to call a garage for gasoline we were astonished to find the Old Maid's Home operated
by Linda Holmes and Jo Ann Don. Linda also teaches Home Economics, and Jo Ann's current book "How
to Catch a Man" is one of the nation's best sellers.
While we were talking with them we learned that Evelyn Shafer lives in France and models French bathing
suits. They also told us that Geneva Gorman, who just swam the English Channel, is going to marry one of
the nation's richest oil millionaires.
As we drove through Hollywood a couple of days later a shiny Cadillac convertible passed us. We recog-
nized Viola Luzadder who had bleached her hair and is taking over Marilyn Monroe's place in the movies.
Viola stopped and talked to us. She told us that Mary Lou Watts was now designing dresses for the movie stars.
As we were driving home we heard on the radio that Mary Lou Best, the world's famous bull fighter, was
going to be in New Mexico the following week. We also heard that Dick Strasser, the world's greatest jet
driver, had invented a new jet that will fly to the moon.
When we arrived home we were surprised to learn that Margie Guthrie had just been elected Governor of
Indiana.
CLASS HISTORY
In the fall of the year 1943, seventeen cute and wisdom loving boys and girls entered the first grade of

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
We, the class of 1955, of Burnettsville High School, do hereby bequeath to the undergraduates our
mental ability, good looks, and our acquired knowledge we have gathered during the past twelve years,
I, Geneva Gorman, will my ability to have fun in Chemistry Class to Carolyn Hook. Try throwing
a little H^O Carolyn.
I, Marie Caudle, will my ability to have a good filled out figure to Sandra Lyons. It's easy Sandra.
I, Mary Watts, will my height to Bobby Peterson. Six foots the limit, Bob.
I, Viola Luzadder, will my Clairnet to Gene Felker. Gene, you should be able to handle them both.
I, Jo Ann Don, will my ability to get out of classes to Mary Jo Chamberlain. You're getting off to
a pretty good start.
I, Jerry Ruch, will my ability to stay away from girls to Roger Fry. It won't hurt to stay away from
them for a little while.
I, Jim Buis, will my Love and Affection for the teachers to Dallas Miller. It helps sometimes,
Dallas.
I, Gary Felker, will my ability to let other people do some things to Gene Felker. It helps things
to run smoother, Gene.
I, Marg Guthrie, will my ability to have fun to Marilyn Reiff. Loosen up Marilyn.
I, Phyllis Rodgers, will my ability to get along with people to Mary Jo Chamberlain. It isn't hard
Mary Jo, if you try.
I, John Campbell, will all my nicknames to Rex Snyder. I think you need some more Rex.
I, Ellen Sands, will my ability to lead yells to Joy Buis. Put your heart into it, Joy.
I, Linda Holmes, will my ability to sway the class into my way of thinking to Beverly Young, You’ve
a good start Bev.
I, Dortha Landes, will my ability to stay in school to Vivian Felz. It's not so bad, Vivian.
1, Evelyn Shafer, will my slim waist line to Linda Dodt. Try the R.D. X. plan, Linda.
I, Jerry McLeland, will all my trips to Monticello to Melton Best. A new car doesn’t help Melton.
I, Dick Strasser, will my ability to get out of school to Mickey Brechbiel. It pays to have nothing
to do.
I, Mary Lou Best, will my dark brown hair to Gene "Red" Felker. It is not dyed either, Red.
