THE CHIEFTAIN
FOR 1951
DEDICATION
Twelve Chieftains have seen the Haskell Independent School District grow into
one of the finest in West Texas. The 1951 Chieftain proudly acknowledges the
astounding progress that has been made in this school system through times of un-
certainty, conflict and doubt, and opposition.
In this, the twelfth Chieftain, the staff has tried through the cover and class
division pages to symbolize the phenomenal movement forward.
Standingas a monument to those who foresaw the importance and who had faith
in its growth and maturity is the new ultra-modern Haskell Elementary School, a
symbol of progress.
To the faculty and pupils of the new Haskell Elementary School, it is with de-
ference the staff of the 1951 Chieftain dedicates this book, in hopes that it will be
a constant reminder for them to continue moving forward!

"A lesson to remember—
3ree ENTERPRISE = OPPORTUNITY Unlimlfd"
Prof. REDDY KILOWATT
v/ut of the brains and activities of men,
working in a free country, has grown the highest
standard of living the world has ever known.
The youths of today are intelligent and
ambitious, and one of you may be another Edi-
son or Steinmetz or Westinghouse. All that is
needed is the full opportunity to develop ideas
freely and market talents as each sees fit
You must guard that "full opportunity" so that
when your “individual initiative and energy” fathers
an idea, you may call upon the resources of our Ameri-
can system of free enterprise to make your idea a reality
for you and for all.
