RALPH DAVIS
Any teacher will gladly tell you Of Ralph’s crazy escapades, For his main aim in life is fun, And he never worries about grades.
MARY FISHER
It takes little to start her laughing, And much to make her cease, And now that she is graduating, Everyone can have some peace.
FRANK TAYLOR
Frank’s one of the nicest guys You'd ever want to meet;
If success is being friendly, He'll never face defeat.
ANTENETTE KURDZIEL
Antenette likes to study,
Her grades are simply the cream, And when it comes to personality, Her's is positively a dream.
RAY MARTIN
He hasn’t a care in the wide, wide, He says, “Why rack my brain? There's plenty of time for everything So why race around like a train?"
JEAN BAUGHAN
She can find fun in anything; That’s just the way she is;
She’s a pal to everyone in school ’Cause her personality’s a whiz.
ROBERT PARSLEY
Robert’s just a kind of guy Who almost never rushes;
He's full to the brim with friendliness And he's also full of blushes.
EDITH FRAME
Edith's a leader in all she does; Betas will tell you this;
She's hard working and fun-loving; She’s the girl we’re all going to miss.
JOHN MIHALCOE
John's athletic abilities
Have aided our team no end,
And his wonderful personality Has won him many a friend.
JANE LINKA
It's a pleasure to be in this world With such nice people as she, For her all-around friendliness Is a delightful thing to see.
GEORGE PHILBATES
Always with a bright remark
Just full of dry wit;
He’s teased us all from time to time, But we didn't mind a bit.
JANIE ANDERSON
Janie is the type of girl
Who never seems to frown;
Her way of being full of smiles Is tops in any town.
FRED JOHNSON
He always has a bright remark On hand at any time;
Fred is one who’s sure to make good; His ambition will help him climb.
Bert McLaughlin
Bert, though small and quiet, Has the kindest heart;
It makes him liked by us all
And sets him apart.
Class oI ’50 In 1960
Dear Jean,
Well, many years have passed since we graduated from dear old New Kent High. New Kent is now a grade “A” school. The students are very much interested in their new home economics cottage, the gym, and the shop.
Jean, do you remember Mary Fisher? Well, she is now teaching school in California. Her fourth grade pupils are almost as tall as she is. Mary is very happy, for she is married to a saxophone player in Harry James’ band.
And that bashful girl, Edith Frame—you just wouldn’t recognize her! She has become the girls’ athletic instructor at William and Mary College. Robert Parsley has his own 250 acre farm in Quinton. Besides running this farm, he has taken over his father’s school bus route, carrying 40 students to school in addition to his own 7 children.
Jean, remember how Jane Linka and George Philbates could very seldom get along? Well, Jane finally won out; now they are married. They have a lovely home; the saw mill business has been very prosperous for George.
Frank and Ralph are now living on neighboring farms. Ralph is much ab sorbed in his dairy, while Frank has become the 4-H agent for New Kent. Janie Anderson has betrayed New Kent Tradition by marrying one of the Toano boys. Their twins are attending school in Toano.
Have you recently read in the paper about the new “Johnson Theory’*? Who else could have discovered it but Fred. Maybe he will show Mr. Einstein a thing or two.
You should see the picture I had taken at Mihalcoe’s Studio. That’s right, John who was our photography bug at school, is now in business for himself. Last week end I went down to our cottage near the river. While strolling along the bank I saw a fishing pole. Upon investigating I found the propped up pole wasn’t alone. About five yards away lay Ray, sleeping as usual and letting
the pole take care of itself. The same old Ray, will he ever change ? Bert McLaughlin who joined our Senior Class has done very well for him self. After graduating from V. P. I. he now has a large farm not far from Highland Springs.
I heard from Mary that you aren’t teaching these days, but have settled down with a husband, and a ranch type home. How about bringing your husband and etc., to see us. While our husbands are getting acquainted we can catch up on the latest gossip.
I am enjoying my work as secretary of the new firm, Gottrocks and Money bags, Inc., although my husband doesn’t approve of my working. However, he and I are living here in New Kent, and are really very happy.
Always a friend,
Antenette

Football
The New Renters of 1949 are justly proud of their football record. The spirit of the team, coupled with a firm determination to win, gave us 6 out of 8 games, in spite of our lack of heavy material. Mr. Mears, the coach, was a real inspiration. The co-captains—Cecil Bowery and Robert Parsley— contributed no little to the team’s success, as did all other players, namely: Frank Taylor, Ralph Davis, Ray Martin, John Mihalcoe, Fred Johnson, Robert Couch, Felix Hammill, Norwood Schultz, Lee Allen, Richard Brushwood, Fred Burnett, Jack Burnett, Roy Gephart, Jack Joyce, Robert Kirby, Frank Richardson, George Violet, Thomas Violet, James West and the team manager, Leon Bowery.
