CIASS HISTORY
In September, 1945, six boys and 10 girls enrolled in the Freshman class.
We started out electing the class officers. Glenn Immel was chosen president,
but moved away making Virginia Light our president. Doloris Hopkins was to
keep to record, Geraldine Brause had charge of the money and Donald Long
was Student Council Representative. Mrs. Carle was our advisor at first but
after her resignation, Mr. Thatcher took her place. Our first party was held at
Christmas time at Donald Long's home. Before the end of the year, we lost five
members, three of which went to North Robinson, and gained one, Ned Foght,
making a total of 12 to start our Sophomore year.
At our first class meeting as Sophomores we chose Donald Long as President
and Doloris Hopkins assistant. Dorothy Layer was to take notes at the meeting
while Virginia Light paid the bills. Kathryn Reinhard was appointed Student
Council and Mr. Thatcher our advisor. Hazel Lohr joined the class.
This year it was our (duty) to initiate the Freshmen. This was held at the
school house and the whole high school was invited. We felt quite superior
when the girls came to school in burlap sacks and at Christmas we had
another party at Annabelle Ulmer's home.
The following summer it was time to make plans for our annual Junior
festival. We set the date for June to be sure we would have a lovely evening,
but were disappointed because it was one of the coolest evenings of the summer.
In spite of the unpleasant evening we made a nice profit.
The fall came and we considered ourselves Juniors. Again we held elections
of officers and Donald Long was re-elected President with the assistance of
Robert Clark. Kathryn Reinhard was to keep the books and handle all money.
Student Council Representative was Ned Foght. Mrs. Shell, our advisor, directed
our Junior Play "The Tiger House”, on October 24.
Toward Spring we were deep in preparations for our Junior-Senior Banquet,
which was held at Harding Hotel, Marion, Ohio, on May 14. We used the
"Gypsy" theme. We all worked very hard in making it a success. The school
year closed with a May Day program. Dorothy Layer was chosen as May
Queen.
At Last we were Seniors. Thinking Donald would make a good President,
we re-elected him again with Annabelle Ulmer as Vice-President, Virginia Light,
Secretary and Treasurer and Doloris Hopkins, Student Council. In October, we
wandered to Tiffin to get our pictures taken and on April 1, we gave our Senior
Play "The Adorable Imp", under the direction of Mr. Dennis, our advisor.
On May 22, our Baccalaureate Services were held and May 27 was our
Commencement, which ended our high school days. These will be remembered
as the happiest days of our lives.

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
We, the Senior Class of 1949, of, by and
for Sulphur Springs School, Sulphur Springs,
Ohio, about to depart from these halls of
learning with sound minds and good healthy
bodies, do hereby publish and declare that
this is our last will and testament.
It is with memories of pleasant and worth-
while times together that we say goodby to
our friends of Sulphur Springs.
Item I—We leave the school bus drivers
12 empty seats to be filled by next year's first
graders.
Item II—To our Superintendent, Mr. Dennis,
we leave hope for even greater success in
conducting the affairs of the school.
To Mr. Clymer we leave the responsibility
of teaching the Ag. boys how to use the new
welder.
We leave Mr. Thatcher with the same
basketball team, but with hopes of improving
it.
We bequeath Mr. Garber an eskimo suit
so he can go up to Alaska for a visit with
his eskimo friends.
To Miss Given we leave memories of the
fine time we have had singing together.
To Miss Heydinger we do bequeath an
extension for her accelerator so she can
make her Nash "really go".
We leave Mrs. Burwell without a girls'
basketball team, but with prospects for a
better one.
Item III—We wish to bequeath the follow-
ing:
Gilbert Boudinot—bequeaths his ability to
throw the shot to anybody man enough to
handle it.
Geraldine Brause — leaves her artistic
ability to Johnny Ream who seems to be do-
ing quite well already.
Robert Clark—bequeaths his shyness to
Willard Wood.
Ned Foght—Wishes to bequeath his agri-
cultural skill to a young man who has a high
degree of skill already, Richard Long.
Doloris Hopkins—wishes to leave her ath-
letic skill to Joyce Shealy.
Vaughn James—bequeaths his hard study-
ing to make the Honor Society to anyone
willing to try.
Virginia Light—leaves to anyone with the
patience, her hard studying in Mechanical
Drawing.
Richard Pfahler—leaves to Walter Schimpf
his musical ability.
Donald Long — bequeaths his happy go
lucky manner to his cousin Harold.
Kathryn Reinhard — leaves her scholastic
adeptness to Annabelle Ream.
Annabelle Ulmer — gives Joyce McCurdy
the privilege of being office girl.
Gloria Feurer — wishes to bequeath her
ability to get along with people to Sylvia
Shealy.

As a doctor takes the pulse of a person who
is ill, so does a good Student Council keep its
fingers on the pulse of the student body to help
in the administration of school policy; to suggest
practices to raise student morale.
Specific projects which have been sponsored
by the Student Council have been (1) Magazine
drive, the proceeds going toward the purchase
of a slide for the grade school youngsters. (2) A
dance jointly sponsored with the G. A. A. and
athletic department, following the Holmes Lib-
erty basketball game. (3) Making catsup for the
cafeteria, from the surplus tomatoes furnished
by school patrons. (4) The arrangement of
chapel programs every two weeks except dur-
ing Lent. During this period special services
were arranged for each Wednesday, for both
high school and grade school people.

sold refreshments at basketball games. They
entertained the boys with a Valentine Sweet-
heart Party and they sponsored a Boys' Athletic
Banquet in the spring.

Our Chapter has been very active during the
past year. The parliamentary procedure team
received a silver rating. The judging team par-

general livestock team placed 14th out of 235
teams. Harold Steiger placed 3rd and 6th in
hog judging. The poultry team placed 17th out
of 65 teams competing. Our chapter made a
very good showing at the Crawford County
fair. We won more money than any other F.F.A.
in the county. A scrap drive was held in Oc-
tober with 12,250 pounds being collected. An
electric welder was purchased for the school
shop by the F. F. A. The boys brought in a
total of 3,169 pests in the pest hunt. The annual
Parent and Son Banquet was held March 25.

wealthy admirer she is only twenty-nine! One com-

JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET
The Junior-Senior banquet was held at the
Sulphur Springs School, April 29.
Decorations in keeping with the "Hawaiian"
theme were in evidence everywhere. Palm
trees, grass shacks, flowers, lakes, and guitars,
were all a part of the colorful decorations.
Harold Steiger acted as toastmaster. The In-
vocation was given by Mr. Dennis. Harold
Steiger welcomed the Seniors and Donald Long
responded. A trio composed of Eudora Stewart,
Ruth Geiger, and Joyce McCurdy furnished
music. They were accompanied by Joyce
Shealy. Mr. Dennis gave a talk, and Annabelle
Ream gave a reading on the Hawaiian Islands.
John Boudinot, Junior Wagner, Walter Schimpf,
and Kenneth Reffey then favored us with more
music. The Class History was read by Anna-
belle Ulmer. The Class Prophecy and the Class
Will were given by Doloris Hopkins and
Vaughn James respectively.
Music for dancing followed. The rest of the
evening was spent in traveling from house to
house. In years to come, it will be recalled
with many pleasant memories.
